Bicycles
are basically simple machines, but they require attention to the normal wear and tear that accompanies riding. While
none of the basic maintenance requirements are complex, bicycles do require special tools to properly perform standard
repairs. In addition, if you have made a major investment in your ride, having an experienced mechanic work on your
bike can help assure that the best possible care is given to your machine.
I
have been building, repairing and restoring bicycles for the past 40 years. I am a Wheelman, and subsequently have a
deep affection for the history of the bicycle and a fundamental understanding of the evolution of the machine from the first
pedal operated two-wheeler to the present day. In addition, I have developed an extensive network of experts in various
bicycles disciplines from wheels to components assuring that any mechanical problem can be solved quickly and correctly.
**MECHANIC CLASSES OFFERED**
From time to time,
we offer basic mechanics training for those interested in learning more about how
their bicycle works, and how to service the machine yourself should the unexpected mishap occur. These classes
generally run for three consecutive days, one hour each day, usually 6PM to 7 PM on weekday evenings. The courses are $75 for the three-day
program.
This
hands-on training will give you the practical experience needed to solve basic problems you may encounter during
your ride. I will provide the necessary tools for all classes and explain standard mechanical procedures.
